SEO - HOW DOES IT WORK?

THE WORKINGS EXPLAINED

By CLICKONOLOGY

One thing to keep in mind when using any of the following SEO elements is not to overdo it. Over-optimization can have your website penalized by Google if there are too many keywords on one page.
So for keyword optimization, keep it simple – just think of up to five keywords or keyword phrases for each page on your website and optimize for those.

Title and Meta Description:
Search engines know by the title tag on your webpage what the page is about. It should be 70 characters or less, include your business or brand name and keywords that relate to that specific page only. The tag is placed near the top of the HTML code for the page between the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags.
The meta description on your webpage will give search engines a little more insight into what it is about. Some web developers say meta descriptions can help with keyword rankings, some say they do not. Write your meta description with a human audience in mind includeing the page’s main keywords, as the meta description shows in search results.

Internal Links:
Search engines learn more about your website by internally linking to other pages on your website within your content, not just to external links from other websites. As an example, this blog post utilizes internal links when linking to other posts on the blog.
Header Tags – The <H1></H1> tags surround the post title – only be one set of <H1></H1> tags per page. <H2></H2> and <H3></H3> tags are used for subheadings on the page – there can be multiple instances of both. Header tags helps both readers and search engines break up the content into digestible sections.

Image Name & ALT Tags:
If you use images on your website, use good keywords for both the image name and the alt tag. Our first image within this post, <img src=”on-site-search-optimization-seo-title-tag.png” alt=”On-Site Search Optimization SEO Title Tag” /> is used as the goal is to optimize it for the keywords on-site search optimization. Search engines don’t just use text but need good images for their image search based on the keywords.

Bolded Text:
Occasional a bold selection of text not only seeks the reader’s eye but search engines distinguish other important information and keywords in the page’s content.
